The Holiday Inn Vana Nava Hua Hin

Hua Hin has a new landmark in the city standing tall as you drive south on the Petchkasem Road towards Rajabhakti Park where the 7 Kings of Siam statues are located.

The new 27 storey hotel with a panoramic sky bar on the top floor stands proudly alongside the Vana Nava Waterpark and as such is a resort hotel with its own attraction.

As you drive in to the ground floor entranceway you see that the hotel guests enjoy their own private entrance to the waterpark and I understand have unlimited access throughout their stay. An ideal family holiday destination with the waterpark as part of it with 19 rides, a lagoon and various side attractions. These should tire out even the most hyperactive children to ensure that the parents sleep at night too!

You are met at the entrance by an enthusiastic team of bellboys and concierge staff who greet guests with a smile and unload the luggage, park the cars and generally keep the guests happy.

The reception is on the 8th floor and is fresh and bright with the floor to ceiling windows looking out to the Gulf of Thailand. There are 300 rooms and they look very comfortable in typical Holiday Inn style with clean lines but fully equipped.

The all day dining restaurant that I tried for lunch was nicely appointed and well staffed and the food was well above the standards of a normal resort hotel. The staff were pleasant and attentive.

I didn’t see the sky bar in action but did visit as they were setting up for the evenings entertainment and the views across Hua Hin were of course unrivalled as it has to be one of the tallest if not the tallest building in downtown Hua Hin.

One floor down was the infinity swimming pool and terrace which again looked over the city and out to sea providing an excellent vantage point to take in the sun, swim and relax.

The Bryde Kids Club on the 5th floor was supervised and had a play area and electronic area with TVs and other facilities to keep the little ones safe and occupied. There was a spa and fitness studio for those that want to get pampered or keep active whilst on holiday.

I was impressed with the first visit and I am sure that the hotel will be full over the weekends and holidays with bangkokians from the Thai and expat communities. It will be interesting to see how they combat the age old problem with Hua Hin hotels and get the Monday to Wednesday business working but they are trying with the Waterpark next door and the Tennis and Sports Arena over the other side of the overpass offering a whole range of options.
