Xaverian Summer Camps and Other Activities – April 2024
Dear friends,
Last year, thanks to the help of some people, we (the Xaverian Missionaries) organised camps for poor children and teenagers in the slum areas in Khlong Toey and the villages in Mae Sot.
Our evaluation was positive, and that’s why we would like to repeat this experience with other poor children and teenagers.
This year we will invite other children and teenagers from new villages.
The aim of these activities is to give the children and the teenagers the opportunity to spend some days outside the slums and the villages. During these days, they have time to relax, to receive human formation, and to learn how to live together.
Values like respect, responsibility, justice and peace, and environment are some of the topics that we would like to share with them. The children and the teenagers, even though they come from poor families, need to understand that they have to take responsibility (in a special way, through their commitment in school) and help each other in order to build a better world, starting from the place where they live.
As all the children and teenagers come from poor families, they cannot afford to contribute to the expenses linked to these activities (travel, food, items, rent of the place)
For each person, the cost is more or less 2,000 bath.
- Camp 1: 4-7 April 2024 (village between Maesot and Umpiam)
130 teenagers - Camp 2: 9-11 April 2024 (Hua Hin) (50 children)
- Camp 3: 12-21 April 2024( village at 48 kil from Maesot)
