Thai Motorcyclists

Today I was driving my brand new car across a junction and some oik riding a tiny motorcycle with a girl in the front and a man in the rear holding a small child drove onto the roundabout without even looking my way or any regard what any other road user was doing.

Frightened that he would veer across the path of my car following the course of the roundabout I gave him a gentle toot to let him know of my presence.

He muttered obscenities in Thai and then again when he drove past undertaking me up the road. I ignored him – turn the other cheek I was told.

2/3 kilometres up the road I was unloading from my car when he came past again and he pulled up shouting and swearing at me. I tried my best to ignore him and the office staff that I was delivering to were somewhat shocked at his language.

As he rode off bravely he spat into the boot of my brand-new car – how delightful…

It seems that carrying four people on a motorcycle none of whom were wearing a helmet, carrying a small child and probably having no insurance, licence or common sense is perfectly in order for the said oik who probably hasn’t got a job either.

Report it to Hua Hin Police – you are joking of course…

If you could find someone that speaks English there they would probably seek to lay the blame squarely at the feet of the nasty falang… how dare he be concerned with Thai safety.
