Pink Polo

Pink Polo

There was a great turnout yesterday at the Thai Polo ground just outside Pattaya to come together and support the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer and Dr Kris and Khunying Finola Chatamra.

The sun shone the food and drink was above comparison as ever with the Thai Polo Club. Our hosts were Khun Nunthinee Tanner Harald Link were both in attendance running around meeting and greeting as many of the guests, players and benefactors as they could. They do a wonderful job there – the playing field looks amazing specially bearing in mind how much it gets cut up during a game. It looks like a manicured lawn!

It was laid out well and the corporate sponsors had their tables laid out looking resplendent. The staff were courteous and working hard to feed everyone and keep the guests happy. There were a number of stalls raising money for the charity and the general feeling amongst the visitors was ‘ a delightful day out and despite the heat and the heavy humidity and ideal opportunity to meet with other like minded people’. There were constant show jumping, fashion shows, and announcements made pre the first chukkas and when the polo did start it was frenetic and engaging.

Pink Polo Event

The gentleman by my side asked if I knew the quote by Churchill ‘a polo handicap is a persons ticket to the world’. I could see what he meant as this is certainly the sport of Kings. The only Churchill quote I could remember was ‘My dear you are ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly’ when replying to socialist MP Bessie Braddock when she accused him of being drunk. There again the only mallet I wielded when young was in the cub scouts and I got kicked out of that! A great day some lovely people and a thoroughly good cause.
