Hotel MYS Khao Yai

I have just spent the last 3 nights at a brand new 5 star plus hotel on the edge of the Khao Yai National Park – the Hotel MYS. It has been open for less than one week!

It is operated by Unicorn Hospitality Group and the General Manager James, a forty something Thai, brought up and educated in Canada has employed enthusiastic, attentive, professional staff that have been trained very well. It’s as if they have been working here for many months not just days…

The architecture is visually stunning. They were obviously given an open brief by the Thai owners and they have delivered in full. It has 6 private pool villas, an 3 bedroom luxury family villa and 16 deluxe rooms and principally targets couples with a plus 13 year old guideline.

The pool villa that I stayed in was beautiful and it had every possible facility and amenity. The 168sqm room in delicate beige and grtey pale colours with wall murals had a comfortable lounge with modern sofas, cushions and floor to ceiling windows looking out over the immaculately laid gardens. There was a breakfast bar set up with tall stools and all of the equipment in the room was the best that money can buy – I felt very comfortable in my surroundings.

The bed was super king sized and must have been 7’ x 6.6’ adorned with crisp white linen. It was high off the ground and even I as a giant, had to step up on to it. Unusually high but ultra comfortable. It had a selection of quality goose down pillows and was finished off with some colourful pillows. I melted into it at night and actually looked forward to going to bed…

This review would not be complete without talking about the Thai chef Tawan who is an absolute wizard in the kitchen. His standards are incredibly high but he will only get better as he receives more plaudits and develops his self-confidence. He cooks for an international palate and delivered some delicious dishes. Each evening I left it to him to decide and his food, the presentation, his waiting and bar staff were all so good and determined to impress. Amazing cuisine up there with the very finest food I have eaten across the world.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The owners must be so proud of what their architects and builders have accomplished and now they must support their management company to deliver the very best of service to their discerning clientele.

I hope to return soon…
