Cross Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel

I recently visited Chiang Mai and the surrounding areas and was lucky enough to stay at the Cross Chiang Mai Riverside Hotel on the banks of the River Ping.

The hotel is quite unassuming from the road with an understated red brick fascia. The security guard guided me to the parking area and the reception staff obviously saw me arrive on CCTV or through the window as they came out to greet me with a luggage trolley.

I was offered a seat in the lounge reception whilst the took me through the booking in procedure. They took copies of my passport and I filled in the check in form and was guided to my room on the third floor. All of the deluxe suites seem to face the river and my room had floor to ceiling glass doors with a delightful terrace with comfortable lounge seating.

The large king sized bed dominated the 60sqm room which was expensively furnished and subtlety decorated. All of the necessary facilities and amenities were there and more. The bathroom had a quality finish with two wash hand basins, separate cubicles for the multi faceted power shower and WC closet. I knew I was in a 5 star hotel and every possible amenity was at my disposal.

I walked towards the river and this was where the hotel really excelled. There was an all day dining restaurant which in the evening converted to a fine dining French restaurant. I sat on the terrace taking afternoon tea and it became my second home for the next 48 hours. I was well attended to by the staff and I watched the river traffic and the even busier road traffic coming from the town over the nearby bridge. It was a delightful way to wile away the afternoon.

I can highly recommend the hotel for a short, long, business or leisure stay. The standards were very high and the level of service was as you would expect from a 5 star city hotel impeccable.
