Two People at the Bangkok Book Festival

Bangkok Book Festival 2023: A praise to translators

The Bangkok Book Festival is back and will start the upcoming weekend. The festival takes place at the library of Goethe Institute. The first day is 30 September 2023 but if you are busy this weekend you don´t need to worry. It is a month-long festival that will go on until 31 October 2023.

Celebrating Alphabet and Translation

This is the fourth time the Bangkok Book Festival has been arranged, the other times being 2015, 2016, and 2021. The first day of the festival, 30 September, is International Translation Day. The theme “Alphabet and Translation” is chosen to mark the importance of people who work with translating books. During the festival, many talks will be held that showcase what it takes to translate a book. They will talk about all the different stages in the translating process and highlight the craftsmanship needed.

These talks will be held on the first day of the festival, from 11 am to 7:30 pm on the 30th of September. They are suited especially for editors, translators, booksellers, cover designers, interested readers, and people who handle copyrights. Of course, there will also be book stalls selling carefully selected translated books.
