ASEAN & UK Business Welcome Reception

On Friday night, 1 November 2019, marking a #GREAT start to the 35th ASEAN Summit, the British Embassy Bangkok  hosted the “ASEAN & UK Business Welcome Reception” at the Salathai room at Marriot Marquis hotel Sukhumvit 22. The reception welcomed over 200 representatives of leading British and ASEAN businesses and dignitaries. 

An opening remarks was given by British Ambassador to Thailand, His Excellency Brian Davidson, followed by remarks from Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community, Dr.Aladdin D. Rillo, Chairman of ASEAN Business Advisory Council, Arin Jira and a closing remark from Baroness Lucy Neville-Rolfe in the occasion of her newly appointed role as the Chair of the UK-ASEAN Business Council.

Afterwards, distinguished guests enjoyed a musical performance on stage by two Violinist Pae Akarawat Srinarong , member of the Vietrio band and Peter Pakdeejit. Amongst other highlights of the events were the motorcycle showcase by British brand Triumph and a custom made “ASEAN classic” secret recipe for the night by Diageo.

In the side lines of the 35th ASEAN Summit chaired by Thailand, this reception highlighted the UK’s ongoing partnership with ASEAN member states.
