Hungarian Wine: A promotional dinner with one of Thailand’s leading gastronomic experts, Chef McDang

The Embassy of Hungary recently hosted a promotional wine dinner to celebrate the 1956 Hungarian Revolution Memorial Day. On the occasion, the Embassy invited Thai partners from the business, government, and media sector on a gastronomic journey, combining unique Thai and Hungarian flavours, and premium Hungarian wines at Nai Lert Park. The event venue demonstrated a wonderful fusion of the traditional and the modern.

H.E. Ambassador Sándor Sipos officiated the event with a welcoming speech, together with Mr. Bhakavat Tanskul, Director General of Protocol Affairs at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who previously served as Thai Ambassador to Budapest. In his speech, Mr. Bhakavat praised the excellent bilateral relations and shared with the Thai audience about his positive personal experiences in Hungary.

The event served as a perfect example of the great collaboration between Thailand and Hungary, bringing together the culinary flavours of two two countries, accompanied by a selection of premium Hungarian wines. The event received great honour that Chef McDang, Thailand’s leading food expert, chef and author of a number of best selling Thai language cookbooks has created the dinner menu using a mouthwatering blend of Hungarian and Thai ingredients and spices. On the sidelines of the event, several Thai wine distributors exhibited Hungarian wines at their stands.

The wine curator for the evening was Mr. Zoltán Zakor, who presented the most informative introduction on the Hungarian wines. Mr. Zakor holds the highly respected Level 3 qualification from the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust and is ranked in Thailand’s TOP 5 on Vivino, the World’s largest wine community application.

The U&V Inter Trade company, one of the biggest importers of Hungarian goose liver in Thailand supplied the foie gras for the excellent Hungarian Wine Dinner menu.
