Brighton College Bangkok Sixth Form pupils visit their sister school in the UK

This January, our first group of Year 12 pupils have enjoyed a wonderful opportunity to visit our sister school, Brighton College, in England. They left full of excitement, enthusiastic about all that lay ahead and what they would learn from the experience. Spending a week at Brighton College has opened many doors for them all, as they met and worked with pupils and teachers at England’s Independent School of the Year 2019.

They joined the Brighton College Sixth Form pupils at the “Options at 18” evening. This was a fantastic chance to find out more about entry to the world’s best universities, and to meet university admissions teams face to face. This evening is an established and pivotal event in the Brighton College calendar and we are thrilled that our pupils were there to be a part of it.

In addition to attending this special event, our pupils took part in a range of workshops during their visit; sharing experiences with their peers and making valuable connections. Several of the workshops focused on looking ahead to further education; decisions that will be required and what they can do now to maximise their opportunities and strengthen their university applications. Each of these workshops was led by the Brighton College UK staff.

Alongside time at the College, our pupils also visited the University of Sussex to learn more about life in higher education. Whilst it is possible to guide and enthuse pupils about university from afar – and our University Guidance Counselling services here in Bangkok are experienced and extensive – there is nothing like actually visiting a UK campus and meeting people face to face, to really get a feel for what lies ahead.  Mr Mike Walton, Headmaster at Brighton College Bangkok mentioned “ Our Sixth Form pupils have really benefited from this opportunity.  They have valued the many educational, social and adventurous experiences, as well as the chance to bond with the teachers and pupils in the UK ”

Brighton College Bangkok work extremely closely with their sister school in the UK; with shared curricula, regular visits from the UK leadership team and an ethos that runs through the Brighton Colleges wherever they are in the world. Our shared culture of curiosity, confidence and kindness is evident in all that we do.  The pupils found many common links as they shared their educational journeys.
